Heres my question. My roommate has a rottweiler, I can tell the dog somewhat likes to play tug o war but when I go to play with him he doesn’t really tug. Instead when I pull he pretty much follows. When I do tell him to drop he he lets go. Any suggestions?

  • aschmookler says:

I like the idea, but then how do you train the dog to drop it? That seems like a really important omission here.

i know labs are retrievers but i have tried to teach her the tug game but she doesnt play but is it just because of her breed or can i still teach her to play or is it just not her thing?

    pack leader??! thats gay

  • undergroundskat3r says:

who takes playing with their dog that seriously?

  • perolito83 says:

But how do you get them to release it when you start training them? I have a bulldog and as such he is incredibly determined and stubborn (with strong jaws to boot) so it’s hard to get him to let go, what I do is that I sort of press his cheek against his teeth with my hand so that he gets uncomfortable and lets go. Is that a good way to do it?
    thanks

Hey, I have been watching your video’s and you have some great tips. When I worked in Bosnia training Dog for Canadian International demining we had to play the Tug game. But the only thing we did different was how we took the kong away.

  • africa1975 says:

We were made to coke up on the leash and when he couldn’t hold it he feels he lost it because he can not hold it any more. That way your not driving his confidence down and he learns that your the pack leader.
