Old Abandoned harness track in Arizona, Urban Exploration: Phoenix Trotting Park

Old Abandoned Dog Track in Arizona when your leaving town going west towards California. Off I10 FWY. Spooky and old, this place has been used in movies from time to time I heard. Now it’s overrun with birds and filled with bird crap 2 feet deep everywhere. I would not suggest going here, but looking at the photos is cool!

@pleiad7 Yeah your right, however, I changed the title, but can’t change the video text since it’s already a completed movie. Thanks for the comment.

Harness racing = horses, not dogs. Google it if you’ve never seen a trotter.

Thanks for wading through two feet of bird poop to get us those photos.

Good thing you can get sound and movies through a computer, but not any smells…

ya theres video but its not very good cause it was so dark. there were dogs in there chasin us around and bums. We took baseball bats with us just incase

  • ArizonaAdventures says:

Really? I wonder who called on you. Maybe someone from the trailer park right there is all I can think of unless a cop just happened to drive by and see your lights. Take any pics of videos?

  • pantherpride147 says:

Went there last night at 3 in the moring with spotlights, sherriffs came and were looking for us

What a great story. With everything you talk about it really makes me want to check this place out. You’ll have to try and get some pics or video of the place sometime and post it up. I’m on the other side of town and don’t make it that way very much…

And I don’t know for sure if someone bought it or something and they take care of the orchard, but there are even cars parked on the google maps photo, and I”ve heard there has been some work done to the house so its not quite as scary…which is a shame…

  • radiocoldheadplay says:

well all I know about it is that an old lady used to live there and she died and it sat vacant for a long time…I guess bums lived in it and stuff.
And ya so the middle house you see is the “Orphange”, and it is the weirdest looking house ever, with 2 spiral staircases, and then to the west thats the mansion and i never went to the building on the east side. I think there is a graveyard kinda close to the mansion to the south…but it could’ve been my imagination haha

  • ArizonaAdventures says:

I looked it up on Google maps and have to say it looks really cool out there. Those orchards are huge! And the homes there look to be very big as well. Who takes care of the orchard if the home is abandoned?

    Thanks for sharing!

    it’s rimmed…. maybe a 7.62x54R or 8×56 Mauser blank…

  • radiocoldheadplay says:

its on Val Vista and Adobe, on the northwest corner…there is a abandoned house on the east side of the grove, the creepy orphange in the middle and some other building i never went to on the end…but i heard there is security now too tho…

  • radiocoldheadplay says:

Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures and the last time i was there was like a year ago…I heard they are starting to rebuild it a little, but i bet its still creepy…Its on Val Vista and Adobe and there is a fence that last time i was there had a hole so you can get in. If its anything like before its the scariest place ever!

  • vwgti101 says:

@radiocoldheadplay happen to have and address? i drive down val vista all the time, Ive never seen any orange groves

  • ArizonaAdventures says:

no I never have. You have any pics or video of the place? When was the last time you were there?

  • radiocoldheadplay says:

i’ve always wanted to go into this place!
have you ever been to the freaky abandoned house on val vista in mesa by the orange groves?

  • DesertStateAgent says:

I hope someone can save this place. It has sort of become a landmark for the people who live around this area.

    Nice photos!

  • vwgti101 says:

the building in i think 67 was only used for two years and then abandoned, thats it

  • ArizonaAdventures says:

Great to know! I wish someone would do something with it though; it’s a great looking building. Your right about the birds…thousands of them in there! Thanks again fro posting the info.

  • jrlendinglv says:

this was a harness racing facility which ran a race meeting in the mid-1960′s. The owner was Eddie Dunnigan. The track never took off financially and was just left to the birds. No one will buy it because its made of reinforced concrete and too expensive to knock down.

  • freakinscary says:

i live near that, there was a movie shot there and it blew up, hahaXD why is everyone scared of it?

  • ArizonaAdventures says:

I’m not really sure what the owner status of it is. I do know that from time to time you’ll see someone had painted over some graffiti.
