Q&A: What can I expect from the Petsmart Dog Training Program?

Question by Karen V: What can I expect from the Petsmart Dog Training Program?
I have a 51/2 month old Goldendoodle pup that is VERY intelligent and knows all the basic commands of sit, come, stay and bedtime (goes to her crate) and rings a bell to go potty outside!
I feel like she may be to advanced for the Petsmart puppy training. Can anyone explain what she may possibly learn that she hasn’t already by attending? I’d hate to spend money on training that is already being incorporated into her daily life.

It’s really all up to you the owner, and the trainer. I took my puppy when she was younger and the guy really couldn’t help me with anything because I really didn’t have any problems with my dog. It sounds like you are in the same boat… I went to about 3 sessions and stopped going… I say save your money..

What’s with all the dog training? I can remember the Grandpa and old dog scenes from my life…huh?

Question by Sarah Townen: What’s with all the dog training? I can remember the Grandpa and old dog scenes from my life…huh?
I have a dog and we DO train it…
But I just go to thinking….do any of you have memories of older men and their dogs on porches? Those guys could typically get their dogs to do what they wanted when they wanted…..so…..why do we need all these books and stuff?

I wonder what we are doing wrong?
Is it a time factor? I wonder if these people just spent more time with their animals?

Thoughts?

The old men, had their dogs as friends. They did every thing with them, so the dog ended up learning from his owner. The time spand has a lot to do with it too.

I think it was more like the dog did what it wanted, which was to sleep on the porch. Dogs used to run lose, not now they have to be on a leash and people are more concerned with their social behavior. Most dogs you used to see way back when were mutts. Now there is a mix.

Question by Joel: If I were to start my own dog training classes, would I get taxed on the money I take in from my clients?
I want to start my own dog training classes and offer them to the public. I have the experience and I love doing it. I’m just not sure if the money I would get from any clients would be taxed or how that would work? If anyone can answer me that would be great! Thanks

Dogs, regardless of their breeds also have feelings and emotions; we must treat them fairly just like a new member of our families.

Our dogs must learn how to behave properly just like when there are visitors around; we must train or teach them how to behave properly. Based on dog trainers, it is better if we start teaching our dogs if they are still a puppy, once they grow old, the more they become stubborn. Dog training becomes so hard whenever they get distracted. There are so many distractions around us, so if we want to teach our dog new tricks, or proper way to behave we must choose a place that is not so noisy and crowded. Dog Training Tips From The Pros

Dog Training Tips From The Pros

Whether you have a puppy or an older dog, it makes good sense to spend some time training them. Even though there is an abundance of information out there about how to train your dog, you cannot go wrong with dog training guidance from the professionals.

1. Positive reinforcement is essential. While there are numerous theories regarding how to train your dog, most dog training experts recognize that positive reinforcement works best. Positive reinforcement involves rewarding your dog with verbal praise “good dog”, physical praise such as a pat on the head and food rewards. It does not involve yelling at your dog, hitting or punishing them.

Positive reinforcement works due to the fact it builds a bond of trust with your dog. Dogs are motivated by rewards particularly food rewards.

2. Consistency is essential. If you’re working with your dog on a particular skill or trick then make an effort to train them at the same time each day. This helps your dog know what to expect. The majority of dogs thrive on structure and will perform and learn faster when they understand what is expected. If you’re training using food rewards, make an effort to train your dog before mealtime so they are a little bit hungry and motivated.

3. Be patient. Dogs tend to learn in waves. Sometimes they pick things up quickly and the next day it seems like you need to start again from the beginning. Be patient. Start each new trick with tiny steps and be very clear about what you expect. Even with the smallest tricks like “sit” you should break it down into smaller steps.

4. Use hand cues in addition to verbal cues. A number of dogs have an easier time understanding and remembering hand signals than they do with verbal cues. Assign a hand signal to each trick or behavior you’re training.

5. Train in small increments. Dogs have short attention spans. Trying to train them for twenty or thirty minutes is not going to work. They are going to get frustrated and lose focus. Instead, keep training sessions to no more than five minutes.

To start with, you may want to train for just a minute or two until eventually your dog learns to look forward to training. Dogs can learn to dislike training. Keeping the training sessions short will help them learn to enjoy the process.

6. Always finish on a positive note. Learning a new trick is hard work. Finish every training session, no matter how frustrating, on a positive note. Always give your dog a trick or behavior to perform that they have learned to perform and finish with a food reward and loads of praise.

7. Keep your dog healthy. Last but not least, one of the most important dog training tips from the experts recommends feeding your dog good quality dog food, giving them sufficient fresh water and making certain they get sufficient rest. A healthy dog is a happier dog and will learn desired behaviors much more quickly.

Prevent your Dog From Barking Excessively by Using Citronella Dog Training Collars

Prevent your Dog From Barking Excessively by Using Citronella Dog Training Collars

Barking is a normal conduct for dogs, but it can get very exasperating for you and people around you if it turns extreme. The only thing you can do is to get large dog training collars or citronella dog training collars. Dogs own an innate impulse to bark, out of the need to notify peril or to communicate with their master and other dogs around them.

When barking becomes too much, it is necessary to retrain your dog. It is possible to do this quite easily by using citronella dog training collars. Such large dog training collars bring into play a very simple principle of psychological conditioning. This essentially means that the dog associates the undesired behavior of barking with the unpleasant effect of the citronella training collars.

Sound or vibration turn on citronella dog training collars, but because of accidental jet release due to external noise, the most reliable large dog training collars are those that use both sound and vibration to determine when the dog is barking.

There are several types of training collars, but some are very controversial. There is a possibility of using a shock collar to train a dog, but people frequently look at this method as a cruel one. Although the collar does no physical damage, as the electric current it produces is small, the real debate is about the psychological damage it can produce to your pet. The controversy and painful aspect of shock training collars have determined pet owners to get the harmless citronella training collars.

]]>

These small and large dog training collars emit a harmless jet of spray near the dog’s face that startles it, because it is cold, unexpected and fast. The spray can be odorless or have a citronella, mustard or lemon scent that is unpleasant to the dog.

Other kinds of large dog training collars include collars that aim the jet or spray onto the dog’s neck or training collars that restrict the dog’s movements only to a specific area. You can have an invisible fence around places you do not want your dog to get into, such as flowerbeds or your swimming pool.

Training your dog to stop barking or to stay only in certain areas of your yard is not at all difficult if you use small or large dog training collars. These are harmless to your dog and help it make a connection between the undesired behavior and an unpleasant sensation. The dog will soon understand that barking will cause a jet of water or unpleasant scent to burst on its face or neck.

If you want the behavior of your dog corrected, but nothing has worked, you should consider investing in a citronella dog-training collar. The price will be worth your piece of mind. You will no longer get funny looks while walking your non-stop-barking dog and the neighbors will stop complaining that your pet barks all night long without any good reason. You will be a lot happier and less stressed out and you will be able to enjoy the company of man’s best friend a lot more.

You can also use small or large dog training collars to control the movements of your dog and to stop it from digging up your flowers or vegetable patch. See all the benefits of citronella dog training collars online with our online shop that describes various kinds of small and large dog training collars.

One can correct any kind of unpleasant dog behavior by means of citronella dog training collars and other kinds of large dog training collars.
