Pick her up and put her on the grass. Give her praise, and a treat, when she does her “business” there.

First you have to find something that makes the puppy bark. For my pup, it was a can of air (the kind you use to clean your keyboard). She loves fighting with the air can! When she was younger I noticed that every time I sprayed the air, she barked. So I started saying “speak” at the same time I sprayed. I did that for about 5 minutes straight — after that, I could say “speak” without the help of the air can, and she’d bark. Always give praise when puppy does it correctly!

The First Step To Training Your Dog- Dog Training Advice
The First Step To Training Your Dog- Dog Training Advice
Hey Allan Codling here,
When we get our dogs we often look for dog training advice but often in the wrong places. The primary focus that we need to have is on dog obedience training as it is a crucial aspect for dog owners. Dog obedience training methods are the basis for a getting your dog to be well behaved, responsive. With these methods your dog will be able to live in your home with your family, friends and other dogs comfortably.
A lot of dog owners want to just potty train their dogs and forget about the obedience factor. What they do not realize is it is much more difficult to get your dog potty trained without the regular practice of obedience training. It makes it even more difficult to correct behavior problems like chewing, biting, jumping and aggression. It all starts with dog obedience training.
Dogs have what is called a pack mentality which means that they need a leader. It is your responsibility as the owner to build the relationship between you and your dog and get your dog to see you as the leader. Now many people either take this piece of dog training advice to lightly and spoil the dog and let it do whatever it wants and many take it to far and are way to militant with the dog and offer no real affection. Both of these habits are ill-advised. What you need to do is love your dog and shower him with affection, but always maintain your leader role in the relationship and the dog will become accustomed to this and recognize it quickly(dogs are smart, they know whats going on
.
So this obedience training is very crucial to getting your dog to be obedient, well behaved and completely trained. This will make it a pleasant experience to have company, go out with your dog and leave it at home knowing full well that he/she will behave and listen to you.
You can get all the dog training advice in the world. However a lot of times you just get steps and methods to follow with out knowing why you need to follow them and how it affects your dog. It is extremely helpful to look at the dog’s point of view. How does he/she feel when you do instruct it to do something. How the dog responds to your moods, tone, commands and why. Having this understanding will make for a better training experience for you and your puppy.
Dog aggression is a pretty serious problem. Obedience training helps to eliminate this aggression in dogs before it even starts to develop. This is very important because once your puppy shows aggressions and it is not properly addressed, this aggression can develop to be even more of a problem as the pup matures. So you want to start obedience training right at the start. If your dog is already mature and aggressive obedience training will still be effective however it will take more time and effort to calm this aggression.
Proper dog training gives you peace of mind knowing that even though your not around your dog is well-behaved. It also gives you the confidence in knowing that your dog is well trained and will be calm and docile around people and other dogs.
How this Dog Training Advice Is Applied:
- Use positive reinforcement as the basis of all your training
- Don’t use negative reinforcement
- Always address bad behavior
- Never correct him if he hasn’t done anything wrong at that exact moment. This is crucial.
- Be consistent
- Always use repetition – Training sessions should be short. 15-30 minutes
- It is much better for you to be the one training your dog. You live with the dog and when you train him he learns to understand that you are the leader and “you” are to be obeyed.
So in short, dog obedience is a significant aspect of raising your pup. It is the first step to get your dog to understand and comply to the rules that you set forth in the house and in public. Please follow this dog training advice. Hope all goes well. Say hi to the dog for me!

Dog training tips please? How do you stop a dog from going up the stairs?
We just moved into our first house and we’ve been trying to train our 3yr old maltese/poodle to NOT go up to the second floor. He only ran up once and I chased him, carried him down. But since then he’s been pushing his luck by sleeping on the steps. First step, second step, this morning was the third step and just now he was on the fourth!
Are there any training tips to stop him? I don’t want a baby gate on the main staircase.
Thank you!
