Probably. There is such a thing as newspaper training for puppies, so I can’t see why not a cat litter. Begin by setting him down into the litter box and commanding him w/ a command such as “do your business” or “go wee wee” or watever u say.
and u can’t blame him! would u want to use the bathroom in the cold?!
good luck!

I took these clips from an excellent program aired on the National Geographic Channel (NGC) called Where Were You. It is one of many excellent shows NGC is showing to commemorate the tenth anniversary of 9/11. What was of particular interest to my wife & myself was the story of Omar Rivera and his guide dog Salty. Salty was a guide dog that came from Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB). GEB is an internationally accredited, nonprofit guide dog school with a 50-plus year legacy of providing the blind and visually impaired with superior guide dogs, training, and lifetime support services. We are currently puppy raisers for GEB and have been raising/training Vera (6VV10) for the last ~11 months… and have about 3 more months to work with her before she goes back up to GEB in NY for another 4 to 6 months of intensive training- we call it “going off to college”. I was not surprised for an instant to see that Salty came back to be with his visually impaired owner. That is what these dogs do. They are totally committed to taking care of their owners. It is hard to understand how incredible a bond and relationship this is. One of the most common questions we get asked by people is how can we give up Vera. We have been lucky enough to have attended a Graduation Ceremony at GEB where visually impaired persons finish about a month long training course where the dog and the person learn to work together. These clips that I pulled out of the hour program help explain why puppy raisers …

How did you train your dog not to jump?
Question by Ashton: How did you train your dog not to jump?
I have a great big German Shepherd puppy who jumps sooooooooo much! She jumps on everyone she meets and she’s getting to the point where she’s to big to jump up…it’s not cute anymore. We’ve tried holding her paws and not letting her down when she jumps–yea didn’t work, we’ve tried ignoring it, we’ve tried telling her no and off…nothing works! Any ideas?

I read that when they jump up you turn your back and ignore them. When they go back down on the floor you turn around and praise them. Keep repeating

How do you train your dog not to pee or poop in the house?

Crate training is the best way I know. During the day when the dog is not in the crate, the dog needs to go out about 15 minutes after it eats or drinks, right away after vigorous play, and immediately upon waking. Be sure to prise them like crazy when they go outside!
The first training, I’m sorry to say, is training the owner….
Good luck!

I wouldnt be paper training her, I dont like the idea of “paper training or puppy pad training” to me that enforces going the the bathroom in the house. I would start with kennel training. Use a kennel that is just big enough for her to get up, stratch, turn around and lay down connfortably. Dogs usually do not use the bathroom where they eat and sleep. When you notice that she is sniffing, turning in circles, going to the newspaper, just ate, just woke up, take her outside to use the bathroom, when she goes praise her. if she goes in the house do not dicipline her, if its not on the paper, put it on the paper (if that is really where you want her to go) and leave it there, Make the paper area bigger. When she pees make sure you clean it up, maybe she does not like going on wet paper. But I would do the kennel outside routine and when she is out playing make sure she is 100% supervised. The less she goes in the house the more successful you will be. Do not leave her un attended outside a kennel. Kennel training is your best friend!!
